FAQ

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE SURFING

Where do we check-in?

You will check in at our surf shop at 626 FRONT STREET in Lahaina. We are located across from the Famous Banyan Tree & next to Paia Fish Market in Lahaina.

What time should we meet?

Please check in approximately 15 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR LESSON TIME. This is important so that we can get you suited in the right gear before starting your surf lesson. Checking in on-time is important for GROUP LESSONS, as there will be others in waiting on you.

Where do the surf lessons take place?

After check-in, we get you suited up with our long sleeve rash guards and protective water shoes. Once everyone is ready we leave promptly at the start of your lesson time and walk about 5min to Kamehameha Iki Park where we retrieve our surf boards from our surf truck. We do our land lesson in the park then head straight into the water.

What is the name of the surf spot?

The surf spot is called Lahaina Breakwall.

What should I bring?

Swimsuit, extra change of clothes, towels, sunscreen, cash for souvenirs & tip for surf instructors

Where do I keep my belongings?

You can keep your personal items in the surf shop where there are secured. But PLEASE KEEP ALL VALUABLES AT HOME.

Do you have showers/restroom/changing room?

Yes, have a water hose to rinse off. Yes, have a restroom for our guests. Yes, we have one changing room in our shop, so we HIGHLY recommend that you are wearing your swimsuit before arriving.

We have paid parking next to our shop or FREE 3 Hour parking a block away next to Prison Street. Or along Front Street there is FREE 3 hour parking.

What equipment do we get in our surf lesson?

  • Surf Board

  • Rash Guard shirt

  • Water Shoes

Can I bring my own equipment?

We highly recommend using our surf board and water shoes. Our water shoes will protect your feet from the sharp reef.

We use long soft top surf boards to ensure that you will be successful in riding waves in your first surf lesson.

You may bring your own LONG SLEEVE rash guard.

What is your cancellation policy?

Customers will receive a full refund with 48 hours’ notice of cancellation or rescheduling. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price. Rescheduling must be made 48hrs prior to scheduled surf time.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes. Although the area where we teach surf lessons is only 3-4feet deep, basic swimming is highly recommended.

What if it is raining?

We do not cancel surf lessons because of rain, you will get wet anyway =) If the surf instructor deems the water is not safe for a surf lesson, we will gladly refund you or reschedule you to a different day.

Can I bring my sunglasses?

We highly recommend not bringing anything other than yourself into the water, as you may fall off your surf board from time to time and will lose your sunglasses. You can always use a sunglass strap, but that is not always a guarantee.

Can I bring my GO PRO or water proof camera in the water?

We ask that you do not bring anything into the water. We have lost countless Go-Pros, cameras, jewelry, etc over the years. You need both your hands to be successful in surfing, so please keep all belongings in the surf shop.

We do have a photographer available if you would like to capture the moment.

What if I’ve surfed a few times before and want to learn new things?

If you’ve surfed before then we highly recommend taking a Semi Private or Private Surf lesson, for a more tailored surf lesson. Our Group surf lesson is strictly for beginners and you may feel like you’re wasting your time.

I’m not surfing, but can I watch?

Ofcourse! We surf near a beach and a Jetty/rock pier. Lots of space to watch and enjoy. Although there is no shade, so DON’T FORGET SOMETHING TO SIT ON AND AN UMBRELLA FOR SHADE.
